Montgomery, Texas is my definition of a hidden gem. Although it is not necessarily a small town, this lesser-known area is situated among some of Texas’ major cities, keeping it a bit more quiet and quaint.
Located just an hour from College Station and Houston, Montgomery is one of the oldest towns in Texas. It began as a trading post in 1826, and is recognized as the birthplace of the Texas flag.
Today, this family-friendly destination is ideal for a weekend getaway on a Texas road trip. Montgomery’s location on Lake Conroe and nearby to Sam Houston National Forest offers endless activities for everyone.
